Mighty and Merciful Father

Mighty and Merciful Father, You are true and trustworthy. Indeed, You have been active in human history throughout all the ages.  You are and will be active in it to its predicted and predestined end. As we enter July 2021, the second half of the year, You will faithfully demonstrate to us that, of a truth, You are patiently and purposefully active in human history on earth.

We praise Your holy name

O Lord our God, we praise and bless Your holy name. We rejoice and revel in Your blessed promise: “I am watching over My word to perform it” (Jeremiah 1:12, NASB). Our joyful and jubilant response to this blessed promise is that of the psalmist David, who exuberantly declared in the Holy Spirit: “Be exalted, O God, above the heavens! Let your glory be over all the earth!” (Psalm 108:5, ESV).

You are the all-knowing God

At the beginning of June 2021, we humbly admitted to You that You are the all-knowing God. The future is all known to You. In fact, You know the end from the beginning.  Not only that, You are in control of all that’s happening in our world today. Indeed, as Paul testified of You in the Spirit: “He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things…in Him we live and move and exist” (Acts 17:25, NASB). Righteous Father, we owe the very breath we take to You.

We are totally dependent upon You

We are totally dependent on You for everything in life. In fact, Your Word assures us of Your willingness to provide all our needs: “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19, ESV). Thank You Lord that You are more than able to meet all our needs – spiritual, physical, emotional, financial, relational. Lord, in fact, providing all our needs is a clear and convincing evidence of Your activity in human history.

We commit our cause to You

It is therefore with gladness and gratitude that we commit our cause to You in the new month of July 2021. Because we know You are actively involved in human history here on earth, we are confident that before July 2021 even begun, You have already prepared good works for us to do (see Ephesians 2:10). Your active involvement in human affairs on earth, also assures us of Your guidance in the way we should goin July 2021 (see Psalm 32:8). It also guarantees us of Your protection from all evil in July 2021 (see Psalm 121:7). Furthermore, because of Your activity in the world and in our lives, we can count on Your help in July 2021. You are the source of our help (see Psalm 121:1-2) and “a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1b, ESV).

You are more than ready for us

Gracious Father, in every way, You are more than ready for us to enter July 2021 to experience and enjoy all that You have in store for us in it. Millions in the United States are tentatively looking forward to celebrating a HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY without COVID-19 restrictions as was the case last year.   Some, who are sports enthusiasts, are eagerly anticipating lots of fireworks, as elite athletes from around the globe compete for honors at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, to be held in July 2021. Others are expecting a great spiritual awakening in the Church to turn the tide of godlessness in the nations, perhaps beginning in July 2021. Still, others are looking forward to hearing news of the complete eradication of the COVID-19 virus and its variants, during July 2021. Economists and employers are awaiting a good job report at the beginning of the third quarter.

You know all our hopes

Since You know all our hopes and expectations and all that’s in store for us in July 2021, we humbly and honestly dedicate it to You in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Please, Merciful and Mighty God, in Your favor and faithfulness, accomplish what concerns our families, our friends and fellow-believers, and us; Israel – Your chosen ones; Your Church – that is, Your called-out ones, and Your world – made up of all the nations and the lands You created under the heavens – for the praise of Your great and glorious name.

The Lord of hosts is Your name

O great and mighty God! The LORD of hosts is Your name; You are great in counsel and mighty in deed (see Jeremiah 32:18-19). You know all about our hopes and expectations for July 2021. Yes, there is so much we don’t know about the future. But we know who holds the future, You, our Lord and our God. Please shepherd us (see Psalm 23:1). Surround us even as the mountains surround Jerusalem (see Psalm 125:2). Speak to us to reveal Your purposes to us to follow in July 2021. Save us out of all our troubles (see Psalm 34:6).

Strengthen us in You, O Lord

Strengthen us in You, O Lord (see Ephesians 6:10). Sustain us in the trials and tests You will permit in our lives in July 2021. Sanctify us in the truth (see John 17:17).  Satisfy us with Yourself in the midst of life’s ups and downs. Show us, too, Your glory (see Exodus 33:18).

Righteous Father, enable us to seek You

Righteous Father, we desire that our lives will make a difference for eternity. Therefore, by Your Spirit, enable us to seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness in July 2021 (see Matthew 6:33). Sit at Your feet like Mary, listening to Your words and learning from You (see Luke 10:39). Submit to You and to Your ways, even when we don’t understand. Share all good things with the one who teaches us (see Galatians 6:6). Share in the sufferings of Christ since it has been granted to us for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake (see Philippians 1:29). Serve You (see Exodus 23:25) and “through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13). Spread the good news of Jesus Christ to others like Philip did in the city of Samaria (see Acts 8:5).

The Lord has done great things for us

O “Father of mercies, and God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3), let us also say, as we look back to July 2021: “The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad” (Psalm 126:3). We pray all these in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, Your Beloved Son, our Blessed Savior!
