Prayer for November 2021

By Joseph Ametepe

Good and Gracious Father, You have been so good and gracious to us. Today, as we begin November 2021, we want affirm Your goodness and grace in our lives. Your word says: “Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind” (Psalm 31:19; ESV).

King David personally testified of Your goodness in his life. His testimony of God’s goodness is recorded in these blessed words: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever” (Psalm 23:6; ESV). Also, the Bible speaks of Your grace, in these brief and beautiful words. “And from his fullness we have all received grace upon grace” (John 1:16; ESV).

Truly, today, we can also testify that Your goodness has been abundant upon our lives and that we have received grace upon grace from Your fullness. At the beginning of October 2021, we confidently affirmed that nothing that happened in it would be a surprise to You. And it turned out to be true. No event in October 2021, for example, the space flight of 90 year old William Shatner, the death of Colin Powell, the kidnapping of the 17 Missionaries from USA and Canada in Haiti, the floods in Nepal, just to mention a few, startled You.

Indeed, You were never caught by surprise as events unfolded in it. Similarly, nothing that happens in November 2021 will be a shock or revelation to You. You know of them all! As such, we humbly and honestly acknowledge that You are the God who declares “the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish my purpose’” (Isaiah 46:10).

Since You, O Lord, have convincingly asserted that Your counsel will indeed stand and that You will assuredly carry out Your desire, we gladly and gratefully commit ourselves to You all throughout November 2021. No matter what comes our way in November 2021, we know that You will not fail us nor forsake us (see Deuteronomy 31:6 ). You will be with us (see Matthew 28:20). Lord, Your good hand will be upon us as it was upon Ezra and Nehemiah (see Ezra 7:28; 8:18;  Nehemiah 2:18). Righteous Father, You will rescue us from perverse and evil men, for not all have faith (see 2 Thessalonians 2:2) in November 2021. Yes, we have confidence that, You, the Great One and our God, will strengthen and protect us from the evil one (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

Because of this confidence in You, our Lord and King, we humbly and heartily dedicate November 2021 to You in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Gracious Father, please, in Your goodness and grace, perform what concerns You Yourself, our families, our friends and fellow-believers, and us; Israel – Your chosen people; Your Church – that is, Your  called-out ones, and Your world – made up of all the countries and the territories You created under the heavens – for the praise of Your great and glorious name.

Since You, Gracious Father, are the One who is committed to accomplishing what concerns us in November 2021, please draw near to us even as we draw near to You (see James 4:8). O Loving God, be pleased to deal kindly with us (see Ruth 1:8) throughout November 2021 and beyond! As You are our Deliverer (see Psalm 18:2), we earnestly plead with You: “deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13; NASB). Lord of hosts, in all our spiritual conflicts in November 2021, defend Your people Israel and Your Church for Your own sake and for Your servant David’s sake (see 2 Kings 20:6), for You are the defense of our life (see Psalm 27:1).

Because You are the Lord of hosts, that is, You are the all-powerful ruler over the entire universe, “destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8) against us in November 2021. Blessed Lord, demolish the strongholds of the enemy of our soul. Loving Father, we confess that we often go astray from You and Your path of righteousness. Therefore, discipline us in love, for our good, that we may share Your holiness (see Hebrews 12:10).

Since, it’s Your desire for us to share in Your sanctity or purity, enable us by Your Holy Spirit, to dedicate ourselves wholly to You throughout November 2021. Desire more of You in our lives! Delight ourselves in You, our Lord, that You may give us the desires of our hearts (see Psalm 37:4)! Discipline ourselves for the purposes of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, for godliness is profitable for all things (1 Timothy 4:7).

In addition, empower us by Your Holy Spirit, to depend, willingly and wholeheartedly on You and You alone! Die to self and to sin! Deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow You (see Luke 9:23). Devote ourselves to prayer (see Colossians 4:2). Above all, enable us by Your Spirit, to declare Your Word to those who do not know You with a sense of urgency in such a time as this. Draw them to Yourself through our witness of You.

Merciful and Mighty God, “Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15:11; ESV). We say that, in the entire universe, there is none like You! Absolutely, none! You are “the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see” (1 Timothy 6:15-16; ESV).

Indeed, we are living in difficult times.  But we are convinced that You are in control of all things. You are in charge of all the affairs in the heavens and here on earth. Therefore, we thank You that You will handle all that comes our way. And we trust that You, our Lord, will accomplish what concerns us (see Psalm 138:8) in November 2021. We are certain that You, the prayer- answering God, will answer our prayers that are according to Your will for our lives. You will answer us in order to give us fresh testimonies to declare of Your abundant grace and goodness toward us. We pray all these in the blessed and beautiful name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, and our Savior. Amen!

God Bless You.
