Exalted and Everlasting Father
Exalted and Everlasting Father, You are “a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster,” (Jonah 4:2b)! In Your grace and mercy, You have given us “life and breath all things” (Acts 17:25). You have also brought us into October 2022. Truly, Your hand had been upon us in September 2022. In it, the world mourned the passing away of Her Majesty the Queen of England. One, who was a woman of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!
We cannot boast about tomorrow
Indeed, her passing freshly reminds us that we cannot boast about tomorrow, for we don’t know what a day may bring (see Proverbs 27:1). Living Father, we acknowledge that life is indeed, a gift from You, never to be taken for granted. Please living Father, impress upon our hearts that life is indeed a precious gift from You to us. By Your Spirit, enable us to appreciate it, especially in this new month of October 2022.
Life is a precious gift from You to us
Exalted Father, because life is a precious gift from You to us, it must be lived for You. But we confess that we often live for ourselves. We pursue our own selfish dreams. We seek to fulfill our own desires, which are often carnal, not Christ-like. O Lord, we need Your forgiveness for seeking to fulfill our own carnal desires.
You are a forgiving God
Because You are a forgiving God, we know that You will forgive us of living for ourselves. For Your word says: “If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared” (Psalm 130:3-4; NASB).
Your word further assures us about Your willingness to forgive us
Moreover, Everlasting Father, Your word further assures us about Your willingness to forgive us. It says: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9; ESV). We are therefore counting on Your forgiveness and cleansing of us. We thank You Lord, from the bottom of our hearts. Because we know You have forgiven and will forgive us of our sins.
We want to commit our lives to living for You
As a result, through Your good Spirit, we want to commit ourselves to living for You. For Your word says: “And He died for all, so that they who live might no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf” (2 Corinthians 5:15). This is our desire in this new month of October 2022, a gift You, Lord, have given us.
We gladly and gratefully dedicate the month of October 2022 to You
As such, Heavenly Father, we gladly and gratefully dedicate the month of October 2022 to You. You know its end from its beginning. In fact, nothing that happens in it, will take You by surprise. Indeed, all that You have purposed and planned to accomplish in it, will not fail. All will be accomplished. Surely, the zeal of the Lord will do all You intend to perform in October 2022.
Exalted Father, accomplish all that You’ve planned concerning…us
Therefore, Exalted Father, accomplish all that You’ve planned concerning our families, friends, fellow-believers and us in October 2022. Also, Holy One of Israel, please perform what concerns the nation of Israel – Your inheritance. Lord of lords; we beseech You, carry out Your purposes for Your Church – consisting of all who are indwelt by Your Spirit.
Father, bring about Your plans and purposes formed long ago
Furthermore, Gracious Father, bring about Your plans and purposes formed long ago for Your world – made up of all the countries and the lands You have created under the heavens! You are still active in human history. All the nations and their peoples are under Your sovereign rule. And yes, You must rule the nations and accomplish Your purposes in them. For You are the Most High who is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever You wish (see Daniel 4:17b).
Holy Father, You have instructed Your Church to live for Christ
Because You, Holy Father, have instructed Your Church to live for Christ, please perfect us into His image (see Romans 8:29)! Purify us for Yourself – a people who are zealous for good works (see Titus 2:14)! Purify our conscience from dead works to serve You the living God (see Hebrews 9:14) in such a time as this! Put in us a hunger and desire to live for You alone! Preserve us on the path of righteousness!
Father, pardon our iniquity
Also, Father, “pardon our iniquity and our sin” (Exodus 34:9), “for there is no one who does not sin” (1 Kings 8:46)! Please Lord; pick us up when we fall! Prepare us to give an account of our lives to You (see Romans 14:12; Hebrews 4:13)! Plant us where You want us to bloom and blossom and bear fruit for You (see Psalm 1:2-3)! Prosper us in serving Your purpose in our generation as David did (see Acts 13:36a)! Provide for all our needs in these hard times, for You are our Provider (see Psalm 68:10)! Protect us and “deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13b)!
Righteous Father, the world desperately needs You
Indeed, Righteous Father, the world desperately needs You. They need Your salvation which is in Jesus Christ. Your word declares: “There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12; NASB). Salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. For He indeed is “the Savior of the world” (see John 4:42). He, “the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10; NASB).
Loving Father, please give us a fresh sense of urgency
We therefore beseech You, Loving Father; please give us a fresh sense of urgency for partnering with You in seeking and saving the lost. Enable us by Your Spirit to saturate ourselves in Your word! Set time aside to pray to You for the salvation of the lost (see Romans 10:1)! Show us by Your Spirit those You’ve already prepared to receive Your word!
Father, empower us by Your Spirit
Also, Father; empower us by Your Spirit to sow the seed of Your word, praying that it will fall on the good soil and bear fruit (see Matthew 13:8, 23)! Share the good news to those who do not know You – believing that Your word will succeed in the matter for which You sent it (see Isaiah 55:11)! Seize every opportunity You present to us to speak of Christ in such a time as this!
Father, we know that You have no pleasure in the death of the wicked
O Righteous Father, we know that You have no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Your pleasure is that the wicked should turn from his ways and live (see Ezekiel 18:23). Moreover, Your word assures us that You are “not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9b).
Father, You are the One who grants repentance
Since, Father; You are the One who grants repentance that leads to life to sinners (see Acts 1l:18b), we implore You to grant it to many! May many turn to You as a result of our partnership with You in this divine work! Yes, all for Your glory and honor in the nations! We know that our work in partnering with You in this divine work will not be in vain. Your word gives us confident assurance of that. For it says, multitudes from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, will stand before the Lamb clothed in white robes (see Revelation 7:9).
Father…accomplish what concerns Israel
Please, Everlasting Father, grant that Your Holy Spirit will sanctify this prayer and accomplish what concerns Israel, Your church and Your world through it. We pray this in the glorious and great name of Jesus Christ! Amen!
